Lisa
Stambaugh
Web and Technical Diva
Lisa Stambaugh has over 25 years
of experience in corporate and
consulting work, primarily in
information architecture,
website design, knowledge
management system design,
process development, and
technical writing.
During her corporate career,
Lisa held positions at
Hewlett-Packard, Logitech and
Quantum. Her management roles
included Director-level
positions in Engineering,
Quality Systems and IT. She also
held key roles at several
start-ups, where she focused on
the initial organizational
set-up, developing complete
process architectures covering
all aspects of the business --
from establishing policies and
procedures for operations, to
creation of IT infrastructure,
intranets and external websites.
As an information architect,
Lisa strives to find the balance
between users' goals, business
needs, and technical complexity,
to find the right method
of presenting the information.
It could be a public website or
a private intranet; a process
flowchart, data map or
presentation; a magazine
article, newsletter, book
proposal or brochure. Her
favorite role on projects is as
a knowledge integration
specialist. She can do the
reconnaissance, gather data,
analyze findings, organize
information, create the
underlying architecture, and
specify the user interface for
the finished product. Whether
the end product is a website,
document or system, Lisa creates
finished products that help
people and organizations capture
and share their knowledge and
experience.
Lisa earned a B.S. in Electrical
Engineering from the University
of California, San Diego, and an
M.S. in Computer Science from
Stanford University. She enjoys
mentoring students, especially
girls and women interested in
technology careers. She designed
the curriculum for a
semester-long seminar course,
"Women in Science and
Technology," which she has
taught at high schools and at
Ohlone College in
Fremont, California. Lisa also
works with local non-profit
organizations to help them
establish and develop an
Internet presence.
Her articles have been published
in several print and online
venues, including East Bay
Monthly, American Fitness,
Consumer Health Interactive,
Suite101 and
CIO Insight. She is currently
writing a book on website
design.
